Fall in love with the western coast of Crete on this excursion to Chania, Rethymno and Lake Kournas. A fascinating journey to the past!

Chania, Lake Kournas & Rethymno Excursion

At 7:30 am on the morning of the tour, we will gather at the scheduled meeting point in Malia. From there, we will set off for western Crete to discover the most interesting corners of the Greek island.

First, we'll stop in Chania, considered the 'mother of the Cretan cities' by ancient writers. Making our way through the Old City, we'll see the beautiful harbor, the city's old Venetian fortifications, and Turkish mosques. In the modern part of Chania, you'll have a chance to discover the area's rich gastronomy and pick up some souvenirs at from shops in the local market.

After an hour and a half in Chania, we will continue on to Lake Kournas, one of Crete's most precious gems. We'll have two hours of free time to explore this beautiful freshwater lake, supplied with subterranean water flowing from the Lefka Ori mountain range. Here, you'll be able to take a refreshing swim in the lake and grab a bite to eat in a local restaurant.

Around 4:15 pm, we will regroup and hit the road towards our last destination, Rethymno. Once we arrive, we'll walk around and explore some of the most special corners of this Cretan city, including a 16th-century Venetian fortress, the Rimondi Fountain and the Venetian Loggia.

This tour of western Crete will come to a close around 7:30 pm, back at the meeting point in Malia.
