We quickly visited the planned places with good interaction with Chiara, who was always willing to answer the many questions we asked her. I recommend including an old residential area where there are many houses open to explore Naramashi Koshi.

Nara is a peaceful city in Japan known for its picturesque parks, ancient temples, and friendly deer roaming freely. As a former capital, it offers a blend of rich culture, natural beauty, and a welcoming atmosphere, making it a must-see spot for anyone traveling in the Kansai region. With its tranquil scenery and historical landmarks, this city invites visitors to step back in time and connect with Japan’s heritage.

A Glimpse into the Past

The city traces its origins to the 8th century, when it served as Japan’s first permanent capital. Over the centuries, majestic temples and shrines were built, many of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites today. The area has preserved its historical charm, offering a unique window into ancient Japanese life and traditions.

Best Time to Visit

While it can be enjoyed year-round, spring and autumn are especially popular for their pleasant weather and stunning seasonal colors. Cherry blossoms in April and warm foliage in November create beautiful backdrops for sightseeing. Summers are warm and lively, while winters offer a quieter, more peaceful experience.

Are the deer friendly?

Yes, the famous deer are generally friendly and accustomed to visitors. You can even buy special crackers to feed them. However, it’s best to approach them calmly and respect their space, as they are still wild animals.

How much time should I spend here?

Most travelers find that a day is enough to visit the main attractions, but spending a night allows for a more relaxed experience and the chance to see the city after the crowds go home.
